The Purge – Phase 1: There is a Problem!
I can’t breathe. Okay, I can…but goodness, there are days I feel like I’m drowning. I have this thing. I LOVE clean spaces. I LOVE organizing spaces. I thrive in these environments…and yet, I can’t seem to get my home to be that way.
I’ve realized something. Both good and bad.
I have a problem. Like most of us do. I have been on the hunt. The hunt for that perfect space organizer. Those perfect spaces you see in ALL the organizing magazines…yeah, I need some of those. But I can’t find them (Well I have, but we don’t have an Ikea near us)…so here I sit, with my mismatched bins and baskets that don’t fit where I want them to and all the things that actually frustrate me when I look at a space. I SO desire to have this clean simple organized space, but I just can’t do it. If I had to count, I think I’d say I have at least 10 books on organizing a space. I just can’t seem to make it happen. It’s like I need to just dump every room out and start over. But I can’t. We need our basement. So, here I am. I have to tackle all the tings and make it work for what I need. So, I have a plan but It’s going to take work. I’m inviting you to join me. I will be taking you room by room and talking through what containers I used, what I purged and how I came to those decisions. This house is about Marie Kondo-ed and there is nothing anyone can do to stop me.
Why are you doing this Kelsey? Don’t you like your stuff?
Yes. Yes I do. However, I have realized that I have A LOT of mental clutter. So, I need to clear it up. Tell it to pack it’s bags and move on. And the ONLY way to do that is to actually PACK UP my space and tell it to take a hike! My office is about to get the biggest overhaul. I’m so excited to show you the final look once it’s all done! Stay tuned!
Then I’m going to tackle my closet. I want one of those capsule wardrobes. I’ve picked colors for the fall and off we are going! CAn’t wait to see how it goes. My plan is to use the same pieces for mid September through November. EEK! Send help! I love my clothes, but I find I’m always reaching for the same things anyway. So, we will see how it goes!
